Firepits UK FAQ
Is rusting a problem for the fire pit?
No, rust is a natural part of the aging process for our fire pits and adds unique beauty to the metal. The fire pits are made from high-grade British steel at least 3mm thick, durable enough to endure years of outdoor use without any treatment, as treatments would burn off.
How long will my fire pit last?
Our fire pits are designed to withstand all weather conditions and should last more than ten years of outdoor use.
Why are the fire pits not treated to prevent rust?
We do not treat the steel as any coating would quickly burn off due to the heat. The thick steel used is capable of withstanding many years of outdoor use.
How should I care for my fire pit?
Our fire pits, including Indian fire bowls and outdoor kitchens, require little to no care and are built to last through years of use.
What is the purpose of the disc in the bottom of the fire pit bowl?
The raised disc prevents rainwater from collecting in the fire pit when not in use. Ensure it remains unblocked to avoid water accumulation.
How long will it take to receive my order?
Please allow up to 14 days for delivery, especially during our peak months from May to August. Order well in advance if needed by a specific date.
How will my order be delivered?
Large items are delivered on a pallet via Palletline, while smaller items are boxed and sent through APC Couriers. You will receive an email notification about delivery arrangements.
Should I place my fire pit on a special surface?
To avoid potential stains from the natural aging process, do not place the fire pit directly on patios or stone terraces. Instead, use older slabs, a gravel bed, or a brick platform. Avoid placing directly on lawns to prevent grass damage.
What are the uses of fire pit lids?
Fire pit lids serve multiple purposes: they act as a table top, protect children from hot ashes and embers, extinguish the fire quickly, and prevent debris and water accumulation when the fire pit is not in use.
What is the best way to start a fire in the pit?
Use an odourless, natural firelighter with kindling and logs. Feed the fire with well-seasoned firewood for a hotter, longer-lasting, and less smoky fire. Ensure a steady supply of logs to maintain the fire throughout the day.
Should I use wood or charcoal in my fire pit?
Use charcoal in smaller fire pits (diameter of 60cm or less) and well-seasoned logs in larger ones. Start the fire at least an hour before cooking to create the ideal bed of glowing embers for cooking.
How do I know when my fire is ready for cooking?
Your fire is ready when the flames have subsided, leaving a bed of glowing embers that provide a steady, gentle heat for cooking, ensuring your food cooks thoroughly and absorbs a delicious smoky flavour.
How do I regulate the cooking temperature?
Adjust the temperature by using an ash rake to move hot embers around under your BBQ rack, skillet, or cooking bowl to maintain consistent cooking heat.
